Stadtelfen sind das, was man gemeinhin als Elfen kennt und auch wenn ihre Vorfahren einst als Hochgeborene, oder Hochelfen bekannt waren, so verwenden sie diese Bezeichnung nicht für sich selbst. Abwertende Bezeichnungen für die Stadtelfen sind Shitelf oder Knifeears, welche nicht gerade selten verwendet werden.

Einst waren sie das edle Volk und wurden als Hochelfen bezeichnet. Viele Ruinen in und um den Bracken sind Zeugen welch großartiges Volk sie einst waren - bevor die Menschen kamen. Während die Vorväter der Sylvari beschlossen sich gegen die Eroberung der Menschen zur Wehr zu setzen, schlossen sich die Ahnen der Stadtelfen den Ursupatoren an. Es schien ihnen einfacher ein Teil der neuen Gesellschaft zu werden, nichtsahnend dass sie sich selbst dazu verdammten für immer Ausgestoßene zu sein. Das einstige Volk der Hochgeborenen degenierte im Lauf der Jahrhunderte, nicht nur weil sich immer öfters Menschenblut in ihm wiederfand, und sind so im Grunde ihres Seins, Wirkens und Denkens kaum noch von Menschen zu unterscheiden, wären da nicht ihre spitzen Ohren, welche sie offensichtlich als "anders" kennzeichnen.

Humans are not as hardy as many other humanoid races, and a simple cold can turn into a life-threatening illness. Other factors also commonly cut human lifespans short: war and famine can strike down the healthiest human, and accidents can lay low even those in the prime of their

life. With exceptional care, luck, and the right lifestyle, a human life can last around 100 years, though those who live to this age are rare indeed. For the most part, a human peasant anywhere across Golarion can expect a lifespan of approximately 60 years. A resident of a cosmopolitan city with access to sanitary conditions and healers can look forward to about 80 years, while a hunter in an untamed or war-torn wilderness sees a dramatically shorter life: 45 or 50 on average. When humans enter their adult years, they come into the peak of their physical power. As they enter middle age, they begin to lose some of their physical strength and speed, but their minds grow sharper and their spirits stronger. They begin to show signs of aging, such as whitening or thinning of the hair, wrinkles from the decreased elasticity of skin, and increased recovery time from illness or injury. Upon reaching the age of approximately 50 years, humans enter old age. Unless dyed, their hair is likely to be predominantly gray or white, and age-related illnesses like arthritis or gout are more common. Still, some humans remain active and strong, resisting age until the day they die. Others, perhaps due to infirmity, give in to senility and slip slowly away into the gray fogs of memory until at last oblivion swallows them whole.

Die Muttersprache richtet sich je nach Herkunftsland, jedoch wird in den Freien Städten die Allgemeinsprache genutzt und natürlich gibt es Gelehrte, welche sich darauf spezialisiert haben längst vergessene, oder fremde Sprachen zu erlenen, jedoch verkörpern diese eher die Ausnahme als die Regel. Die meisten Menschen bestehen darauf, dass man ihre Muttersprache erlernt.

Erscheinung

✥ Das erste was einen unverkennlich als Elfen ausweißt sind die spitzzulaufenden Ohren, welche etwas größer als die eines Menschen sind. Sie sind von durchschnittlicher Körperhöhe und ihr Körpermaß variiert zwischen 1,50 Metern und 1,85 Metern. Auch wenn es muskulöse und kräftige Elfen gibt, so kann man jedoch sagen das ein Großteil ihrer Art von einer athletischen und schlanken Gestalt ist, welche seltener zu Übergewicht neigt. Die meisten Elfen besitzen hohe Wangenknochen, feingeschnittene Gesichtszüge und große katzenhafte Augen. Und auch wenn sie nur noch ein fades Echo der einstigen aetherischen Schönheit der Hochelfen besitzen, kann man wohl generell behaupten, dass selbst der unansehnlichste Elf immer noch hübscher als der Durchschnittsmensch anzusehen ist.

✥ Auch wenn die normalen Augenfarben bei ihnen gängig sind, gibt es doch einige Elfen in denen das alte Blut noch stark zu sein scheint, oder wieder am erstarken ist. Sie besitzen ungewöhnliche Augenfarben, leuchtendes grün oder blau, violett oder gar gelbe oder silbrige Augen, welche besonders durchdringend erscheinen. Ähnlich verhält es sich mit den Haarfarben. Über Blond, Rot, Braun und Schwarz sind alle Haarfarben bei ihnen vertreten, jedoch wird hin und wieder ein Kind geboren, dass silbriges oder weißes Haar besitzt, ein Merkmal das besonders stark bei den Hochelfen der vergangenen Tage vertreten sein sollte. Auch kommt es nicht selten vor, dass die Kinder der Elfen die ethnischen Merkmale des Landes aufweisen, in dem sie geboren sind. So ist es nicht ungewöhnlich, dass die Elfen im Süden mit dunkler oder gar schwarzer Haut geboren werden und krauses Haar besitzen, wobei dies sich auf darauf schließen lässt, dass ihr Blut vor Generationen bereits stark mit dem der Menschen vermischt wurde. Natürlich unterscheiden sich die Dontiler "Elfen" aufgrund ihrere Kultur, von dem Rest der elfischen Bevölkerung, weswegen man ihre Kleidung und Erscheinung nicht mit denen der gewöhnlichen Stadtelfen gleichsetzen kann.

✥ Die meisten Stadtelfen sind zu arm, als dass sie teure Geschmeide oder Kleider tragen können. Generell bevorzugen sie Kleidung und Schuhe die haltbar und robust sind und für viele Jahre aufgetragen werden. Ein gutes paar Lederstiefel ist für einen Elf ein viel kostbares Gut, als es ein Seidenhemd je sein könnte. Dennoch sollte man nicht glauben, dass ihre Kleidung schlicht, oder gar schäbig ist. Sie versuchen diese mit Stickerreien, bunten Farben oder Federn aufzuwerten und zu individualiseren. Den meisten Schmuck den die Stadtelfen besitzen, haben sie selbst hergstellt, günstig erworben oder wurde über mehrere Generationen in der Familie weitergegeben. Ohrringe und Tätowierungen sind ein häufiger Körperschmuck bei den Stadtelfen. Mehrfach durchstochene Ohren mit einer vielzahl von Ringen und Steckern betonen die spitzen Ohren der Elfen und verschnörkelte Körperzeichnungen, welche mit Tinte in die Haut gestochen wuren, zieren oftmals nicht nur Arme und Beine eines Elfs, sondern reichen ihm über den ganzen Körper bis hin ins Gesicht und sind Nachklang der alten Tradition der Blutbilder. Bessergestellte Elfen, die eigene Geschäfte am Rande der Elfenviertel führen oder in den Noblen Adelshäusern arbeiten, versuchen sich an die aktuelle Mode anpassen und besser in die Menschenwelt zu integrieren, in der Hoffnung dadurch besser akzeptiert zu werden.

Human senses are relatively weak compared to those of Golarion’s other most common humanoid races. They are not, as a rule, as alert or perceptive as other races, with senses of sight and hearing being duller than those of most beasts. Human civilization also tends to disconnect its members from nature, costing them insights that their more “primitive” brethren might retain. However, with training and exposure, humans can learn to adjust to their surroundings. For instance, humans living for weeks in a rainforest might gradually learn to differentiate between shades of green that they could not have distinguished before, or to pick through the general rustle of the forest to identify specific sounds. This rapid adaptability allows humans to explore and understand a variety of new and changing environments with adroitness other races can rarely match. While many other races are well suited for particular biomes, few are able to adapt to meet new challenges as quickly and thoroughly as humans do.

Humans live their lives in uncertainty and so try to construct permanence in their ever-changing lives. No matter how fatalistic or idealistic a human might declare herself, at her core is a strong survival instinct, and few can overcome the inborn need to survive and thrive. Humans are a competitive species, full of ambition, and though many declare that they wish nothing more than a comfortable life, they generally find ways to ensure they are never satisfied with their lives. Humans constantly push themselves to find new experiences, to live more fully within the confines of their lives, and occasionally to break free of those confines. When they stop challenging themselves, they begin to die a little (albeit in a more metaphoric fashion than gnomes succumbing to the Bleaching).
